IR train detectors

Detectors are used in everything we do. When we enter a store the door opens automatically. Cars know when it is time to get serviced. And room comfort is governed by temperature gages.  So why not use them on our train layout?

The most common in model train detection are the IR type detectors. They are simple to setup and use to trigger operations on your layout. For example a PIR detector can be used to trigger an oil well as a person approaches the layout. Or cross track detectors for point detection of a train. Or laser beams that can be bounced between mirrors for large area detection that is the least susceptible to room lighting conditions.

No matter what…We have them all and can recommend the type best suited for your application. Not all detectors work in all situations. For example ambient light detectors do not work in night operations unless they have special considerations for a light source.
